As many of you know I don’t like to buy expensive baby clothing (unless it’s monogrammed). There is one time of year I do bend the rules, and that is now! Here are my favorites.

I’m also loving these MarriMane velvet coats for boys and girls. click here.

Maternity & Postpartum

I know many of you are on the hunt for that perfect fall piece to add to your mom uniform. In my opinion Dudley Stephens is it!

Co-founders Kaki Mcgrath and Lauren Stephens created the idea for Dudley Stephens when endlessly searching for fleece that could be used in a fashionable way. Growing up in New England towns they lived in fleece jackets year round. "Fleece was the perfect solution for warmth and comfort, while being easy to wash, environmentally friendly and stylish." Dudley Stephens designs and creates stylish silhouettes using fleece fabric that are comfortable, easy to wear, and that look and feel good. Kaki and Lauren are both local moms and as a team they have a wealth of experience in both the fashion and marketing world.

Though the Dudley Stephen’s line is not maternity/postpartum specific every one of the pieces works well for both pregnant and postpartum moms. They even have the most adorable little girls fleeces as well.

Before I get into why I love Dudley Stephens I wanted to share a 20 percent off code that the co-founders agreed to make available to you for today only. Use the code MRSNIPPLE20 for a one time discount of 20% off your ENTIRE order

You can find out a few reasons below why I love Dudley Stephens but I would like to take a minute to talk about how certain features are very important for pregnant and new moms.

When I was pregnant I lived in leggings, my main concern was comfort. The Dudley Stephens Cobble Hill Turtleneck is perfect during pregnancy and beyond. It is super slimming and gives you the perfect amount of coverage hitting below both the butt and upper thighs. The upper thighs seem to be my problem area post baby and this cut does wonders for my confidence.

I also love the Pacific Vest in Double Layer Vello Fleece, Chrissy from In My Closet Blog, is it wearing below. You can throw it over anything and still accomplish both that slimming and pulled together look. It’s also perfect during pregnancy and will take you from pre-pregnancy through delivery to post baby.

The Brooklyn Bomber jacket is another one of my favorites. It’s perfect for both breastfeeding and baby wearing. It also happens to be the most comfortable thing on earth. The brushed fleece is so soft.

As a mom with young kids I always think about the fabric! My boys have sensitive skin and wearing something soft that’s made right here in Brooklyn makes this line that much better. “It’s crafted there with sustainable, non-iron vello fleece (read: super soft, non-wrinkling, easy wash) spun from recycled yarn.”-ds

Check out some styling tips from Chrissy (In My Closet Blog) & myself below. Take advantage of the discount code at the end of this post! Dudley Stephens very rarely offers a discount this good.

“As a busy mom with one more on the way, I get dressed on the go, which can be quite the challenge—so I have a few go-to pieces I can throw on and walk out the door feeling put together. The Cobble Hill is definitely one—the length is perfect for moms and easily fits my growing bump. I love how I can wear it with leggings and sneakers one day and skinny jeans and cute flats the next." -Chrissy, In My Closet Blog

"Another favorite: the Pacific Vest. Talk about the perfect layering piece, especially over my large belly. It effortlessly pulls an outfit together; I love pairing it with a button-down top and jeans. The best part about my DS pieces is that I can continue to wear them post baby!"  -Chrissy, @inmyclosetblog

“Confidence after giving birth can be a struggle, but the Dudley Stephens line is the perfect postpartum uniform. Not only does the material hold up incredibly well after spit-ups and other mishaps, but the pieces are just as functional (pockets!) as they are beautiful, something every new mom needs."

"Many have a length that’s extremely slimming for the postpartum body, while still providing easy breastfeeding access—and your newborn will always feel cozy against the soft fleece."

If you will be baby-wearing this fall, the Brooklyn Bomber is a must! My five-month- old fits perfectly, all warm and cozy underneath, and I had both hands free during our recent apple picking trip.

More bump-friendly fleece here and here.

You can click on anything in bold to check that specific product out.

The Brooklyn Bomber jacket: Caramel brushed fleece

The Cobble Hill Turtleneck ( for a little more coverage) or the Park Slope Turtleneck for a short look, perfect for tucking. My favorite colors are, navy, red, island coral, heather grey, marigold, green, burgundy and natural blush…I love them all!

Pacific Vest in Double Layer Vello Fleece: I love this for layering. Both the navy and brushed black fleece are on my list.

Remsen Blazer in Double Layer Vello Fleece: Love this look and the Tilden Turtleneck Dress especially for the holidays and the office.

PREGNANT MAMAS: I would size up at least one size. Doing this will allow you to grow into the fleece yet you will still be able to wear it postpartum.

EVERYONE ELSE: Think about how you want the fleece to fit. I ordered the Brooklyn Bomber jacket in a small and it fits perfectly. I also ordered the black Cobble Hill Turtleneck in a small. I don’t mind the more fitted look with the black but when I order my next few (today) I’m going to go with the medium because I like to have some room. I’m usually between a small and medium because of my broad shoulders.

Use the code MRSNIPPLE20 for a one time 20% off your ENTIRE order from 6am-midnight today only.

Now for my fun announcement! As I mentioned earlier Dudley Stephens is run by two moms and they are an inspiration to other moms trying to create something in the entrepreneurial space. That being said, I feel like this is the perfect opportunity to announce the name for something I will be launching in February. I did an instagram poll last week presenting both names for my future business, Mom Friends by Mrs. Nipple vs. Mrs Nipple & Co. Many of you also gave me your ideas which cracked me up! Some of my favorites, Nipple Nation and The Daily Nip. It was a landslide and it seemed like everyone wanted to keep the nip front and center so it will be called, Mrs. Nipple & Co.! As always thank you for your continued support on this journey.

Mrs. Nipple

My recent fall shopping trip & my fall wardrobe staples

Check out a few finds from a recent shopping trip + my fall staples from previous years. I included photos of myself in some of the pieces below each category. At the end you will find all the products.

  1. DENIM:

I wasn’t really on the hunt for denim because I’ll be living in THIS pair for the rest of the fall but I came across the pair of awesome wide leg cropped jeans below. I fell in love. They look great with a pair of cool sneakers or booties. I’ve never purchased a pair of jeans this cheap and I’m so impressed. I would say they are true to size and need be washed often because they do stretch out. You can shop them below under denim.

Ok this is what I was really on the hunt for. H&M did not disappoint. I’m not sure if they changed some things around at manufacturing but the quality seemed much better than previous years. I tried on and purchased all of the sweaters below. I love every single one. I love the look of a chunky sweater tucked into wide leg jeans like the ones above.

3. VEST: My favorite purchase from last fall was this really cool long sweater vest. Also perfect for breastfeeding. I was pretty upset because it sold out right after I bought it and I wanted to buy it in one more color. I have the green/navy reversible vest and the tan is on my wish list.

ALL WEATHER WEDGE BOOTIES: I love my pair of all weather wedge booties. I bought them in black but also love the brown. I wore them all fall/winter long and they still look great.

RAIN BOOTS: I bought my first pair of Hunter rain boots ever last year. I basically waited so long because I think they are pretty ugly. I just hate when you walk in them and they bend and change shape in the strangest ways. That’s until I found the ultimate Hunter rain boot. The Norris Field Neoprene Lined Hunter Rain Boot. These are your average hunter boots on crack. They are made from a new soft rubber compound that maintains strength, while being flexible to allow ease of movement. Meaning your legs wont look like they are made out of play dough. You can find my full review of them, HERE.

BOOTIES: These booties are my favorite for fall. They wore beautifully and I can’t wait to rock them again this year. Last year they sold out very quickly so I would grab these ASAP. You can shop them, below.

OVER THE KNEE BOOTS: OBSESSED. So obsessed. I’ve been looking for a good over the knee boot for years and I can’t wait to pair these with beautiful flowey dresses and skirts. I wore them through last fall and they are still looking great. WORTH the price tag.

WEDGE SNEAKER: I love this camo print wedge sneaker.

RAIN JACKET: I bought this for Ireland and it did not disappoint. I absolutely love the material, it holds it shape perfectly no matter what. You will look completely tailored in this rain jacket, even when it’s pouring buckets.

SUADE JACKET: I love everything about my Blank NYC suede jacket. Black for the winter brown for the fall. It’s such a great staple that won’t go out of style.

LIGHT WEIGHT JACKET: I’m not a brand person but my Barbour jacket was such a good purchase. It is so sharp looking. I still love it just as much as the day I bought it.

COAT: You know that one piece of clothing people stop you in the street about? I bought a J. Crew color block coat a few years ago and I cant tell you how many times I’ve been stopped about it. The navy coat below is up there is my opinion with my color block coat. I plan on ordering it soon as sizes are running low.

SKIRTS: This classic faux suede skirt with buttons up the center looks so great with the over the knee boots above. I also love the flowey flower print skirt you can rock it with booties or sneakers and a chunky sweater with a slight tuck. perfection!

DRESSES: I love a flowey dress with over the knee boots and a fall vest or chunky sweater/cardigan. You can find some pictures of ones I wore last fall below. I can’t find my favorite from last year but this is similar, HERE.

HATS: I love hat attack for everything hats. You can find my favorites below.

DUDLEY STEPHENS will be my new go to for everything fall this year. I’ve been wearing my pull over and new bomber a ton. check back on Thursday for an awesome collaboration.

Nordstrom picks

I spent way too long looking at the Nordstrom anniversary sale. I compiled some of my top picks. If you find items that are sold out just check back because many items will be restocked. This is a GREAT opportunity to buy baby gear and classic women's pieces that won't go out of style.

My top pick for kids is the NUNA carseat and native shoes. I am a huge fan of both. We LOVE our Nuna car seat. I have both the infant and convertible carseats. I can switch both from car to car in less than 5 minutes.

For women my top three picks are the Emerson boy friend jeans, the Soludos flats, and the Ugg wedge booties. I have two pairs of the Emerson jeans (I've had them for years & they my fav.) I got ton of use out of both the Soludos flats and Ugg booties. I highly recommend all three of these products.

If you sign up for a Nordstrom card you can get access to the sale now but if not general access starts on July 20th and runs through August 5th.

I'm the queen of comfort that looks cute! These linen joggers are not only extremely comfortable but also a versatile piece. You can dress them up or down! Most importantly.....they are ultra slimming. I'm 145 pounds in the picture above and have 20 pounds to drop from just delivering my son. You can hardly tell! Wearing clothing that hits you in all the right places is key. It's been almost three weeks since these were shot and I have not lost one pound. I have been focusing on eating healthy and exercising but hormones are king! When my body is ready I will start shedding the weight, but for now I'm paying extra close attention to how my clothing fits.

-CREATE A WAIST: Sometimes your body can get lost in oversized tops. Unless you are at your happy weight this can make you look larger instead of smaller. Try tucking in a small area of the top in the front to create a waist.

-COVER AREAS YOU ARE SELF CONSCIOUS ABOUT AND EXPOSE AREAS YOU ARE PROUD OF: I'm not loving my lower stomach area, upper thighs, and upper arms right now but it's getting hot so I needed to get creative. I chose joggers because they sit above my lower stomach and hit me in all the right places. To cover my upper arms I threw on a jean jacket that is just sitting over my outfit.

-FIT IS KEY: Where clothing sits on your body can make all the difference in the world. Pants that are loose throughout the leg and tight at the ankle have an ultra slimming effect. I'll be living in this linen pair all summer long.

You can find the Joggers (they come in 4 colors), HERE

A Father's Day Gift Guide

Father's Day & Gifts

With Father's Day right around the corner, I figured now would be a great time to think about what we should get Ray for his day. With a 19 month old and a 7 week old,  by "WE", I really mean "I".  Ray is such a great dad.  I’m sure most of you probably feel the same way about the dad in your life if you are reading this Father's Day gift guide. I literally count down the minutes until 6:00 when Ray gets home everyday. He gets a very fun phone call/text everyday at 4:30..."so when are you going to be home?" Nope. That's not annoying at all :) Right when he walks through the door, he is "ON." He does the entire bedtime routine with Charlie every night. More important than being present in our day to day life is how I can always rely on him no matter what. For the big things and the little things, he always delivers. Juggling two babies under two is not easy and I can confidently say he makes me feel like we have this parenting thing completely under control...just kidding. He does make me feel like I chose a spouse that will always be in our children's lives, not just physically, but also emotionally, everyday. When thinking about marriage, a non-negotiable (yes, I had non-negotiables) was someone that would have their own strong relationship with our children, a truly involved Dad that would be in our children's lives more than "How was school today?”  When I met Ray, I not only fell in love with him but also knew he would be the kind of father that I wanted for my children.

So, he deserves a little better than an OK gift on Father's Day.

Ray has a terrible back. RIght before I delivered Ford he actually threw it out and ended up in the hospital. I blame it on working a 6-6 job and sitting in a chair at the computer for the last 14 years. That being said, his back is in need of some TLC. I'm getting Ray a gift card to, Indigo Acupunture + Wellness. Acupuncture can help your body heal itself from many issues including acute and chronic pain. This is the perfect gift for the husband that could benefit from something like this, but might not make an appointment on his own. If you live in the area, check out the Indigo Acupuncture & Wellness website, HERE.

If you are married to the man that loves gifts made for them then this is for you! Mackenzie Horan of the blog Design Darling posted about how she was doing needle point to create a belt for her husband, so... I had to learn more! There are companies that can ship you the entire kit to get started and there are YouTube videos for needle point for beginners.  The best part is that YOU get to pick out symbols to put on the belt that best describes your dad/husband. This could also be a fun family project because your kids can also pick out symbols that describe dad. If you don't have the time to actually needlepoint, then you can have the belt custom made....a little white lie never hurt anyone.

You can check out the company’s ETSY page, HERE

You can check out the company’s website, HERE.

You know those really cool prints that are thousands of dollars and literally look like your kids  accidentally spilled milk all over them? Me too! So why not just create that and frame it? I love the side by side ones. All you need is non toxic paint, 2 large pieces of textured paper and 2 frames. You could have the kids squirt bottles full of paint on the paper. Do one color and let it dry. I would stick to three colors in the same color family. After the paper dries you can then hang them up on father’s day morning before dad wakes up!

What guy doesn't love a good monogram? Monogrammary is your go-to for everything personal. If your husband is in need of a DOBBS kit, travel bag, apron, or tie holder then she is your girl! EVERYTHING can be monogrammed. You can find her website, HERE

Speaking of men’s aprons.... let's talk about meat. I'm a huge believer in eating top quality grass fed & grass finished beef. I promise your husband will not taste meat as good as the stuff right from the farm. You can actually order a cow or pig straight from local farms. The meat comes vacuumed sealed in individual cuts just like the grocery store. If freezer space is an issue you can split the cow or pig with someone else. I happen to do a cow share with my parents. We get our meat from, HERE. It's a farm in Woodstock, CT. There are so many places that do this. You can find farms near you on google.

You can never go wrong with a cool pair of kicks. You can find my picks below

A personal training session would be a wonderful Father’s Day gift. If your husband complains about not having time to get to the gym or often talks about how he wants to get back at it, then this gift is for him. Sometimes it just takes a few personal training sessions to get back into healthy habits after a long break from working out. Booking your husband a personal trainer could be the perfect Father’s Day gift. If you are local, check out Countdown Fitness. I went to personal trainer, Madison, and loved her! If your significant other is short on time like mine is, they will still be able to make time to go to Countdown Fitness because their sessions are only 30 minutes long. That’s because they use the slow burn method.

"Slow lifting reduces momentum, requiring your muscles to do more of the work. The result? A more efficient workout, leading to a stronger, fitter you in half the time." -CDF

They have gyms in both Greenwich & New Canaan. You can find their website, HERE.

We had a wonderful weekend kicking the summer off with a beach weekend out east! This look came in handy. It's perfect for May & early June when the weather is still transitioning into summer and the nights are very chilly.

Now onto the color. You can find me in all white at least 80 percent of the summer, I mean even our stroller is white! Though I do love an all white look, I still wanted touches of color. I love the subtleness of the red and blue of  both Charlie's sweater and the towel. I also just want to point out, in the photo above the towel is draped on the back of the bassinet not over the bassinet. Even if you are not directly wearing something, anything that is going to be close by counts as part of your outfit in my book. Two things that will always be close by Charlie and Ford :)

You can find:

MY TOP, HERE It's an over sized linen boyfriend top that I decided to tie

MY PANTS, HERE They are Girlfriend Chinos with Eyelet Patch Detail

MY SHOES, HERE Lemon Platform Smoking Slippers. You will get tons of compliments!

I've already worn this top twice and I only purchased it a week ago. It's light weight and perfect for the unpredictable weather we are having where you're not too sure if it's going to be hot or cool. Perfect top for MDW and it's also 40 percent off right now! You can find it HERE. It pairs perfectly with my zodiac Asha necklace. I have a bigger charm for me (scorpio) and two smaller signs for the boys. You can shop the necklace, HERE. You can pair the look with my favorite sneakers HERE, my favorite flip flops HERE or mules HERE, HERE & HERE.

I'm slightly obsessed with the pig purse below! It is a Cult Gaia piece. I love it paired with this outfit and could also see it looking awesome with any summer sundress. When you are not using it as a bag it could also make the perfect statement piece in any nursery.

The boys are in these adorable shark sweaters. Shop for them, HERE. You can find another option perfect for MDW HERE. I also got Charlie these very patriotic shoes and linked them HERE.

Postpartum maternity style tip: You can pair this top with maternity jeans that have the expanders on the sides. This way you can still tuck in the blouse to create a waist which can be very slimming.

After living in leggings for the last six weeks I decided to go shopping and purchase some pieces that would flatter my postpartum body. I will be posting pictures of the items along with details in the upcoming weeks but wanted to share them before they sell out. The JCREW items are 40 percent off right now.

Mother's Day is a very important day for me. Not because I'm a mom but because I have had such a strong role model to grow up with as my mother. Growing up I couldn't call her my best friend, we hardly got along. All I wanted back then was a "cool" mom, but she knew I needed her as my mother, not as my friend. Though she could be tough at times when it came to boyfriends and late nights, it's because she knew I needed boundaries. It took me years to realize that when I thought she was "against me" during my teenage years, she took the hard road and was the mom she knew I needed. She is such a warm loving person, it's no surprise at all that her Grandkids ask for weekends spent at Nona  & Pop-Pop’s  house. There is never a dull moment whenever you are around Nona, BABS, also known as my mother. Now many years later I'm so proud I get to not only call her my mother and our Nona but my very best friend as well.

I rounded up somethings that I know she would love and I love as well.

I hope all of you mamas have a wonderful Mother's Day being pampered and spending some quality time with your loved ones.

I also think every mom deserves what I like to call a TO ME FROM ME gift on Mother's Day :) I think an ASHA piece would be extra special for your mother or a gift to you from your "babies/kids" aka husbands but everything works perfectly for TO ME FROM ME gifts as well :) So go ahead and spoil yourself... an order from Mrs. Nipple!

Xx Happy Mother's Day

Mother's Day Roundup

#1  A piece of meaningful jewelry. I just discovered the brand ASHA and fell in love. Their pieces are timeless, bold, and sophisticated. I was on the hunt for a necklace with a long chain that also was personal in some way and came across Asha by ADM only to discover that their corporate headquarters and showroom are across the street from our home. Here are my two ASHA Mother's Day picks: THIS necklace has a long chain, it comes in an 18 and 30 inch version and has a classic zodiac pendant in mother of pearl hanging on it. I love it paired with the smaller zodiac pendants, one for each of your children's signs, HERE. I just received the Scorpio necklace with Libra and Aries pendants for both of my sons. ASHA also has letter pendants which could be another idea. You can find the letter pendants, HERE and HERE.  Also check out all of my ASHA picks below. Leggings for the NEW mamas

It is not only important to wear some support around your midsection after delivery,  but it also can do wonders for your confidence. Having clothing that holds you in during those first few weeks and months can make all the difference in the world. I use a variety of items including high-rise underwear with built in support, a belly wrap, and high waisted compression leggings. I linked the underwear below, however I received the belly wrap at the hospital. My leggings are not postpartum specific but just leggings I purchased pre-pregnancy that happen to have a good amount of support in the abdominal region.

Research is now showing that pretty much every woman will have some degree of diastasis recti (that pooch that doesn't disappear when your baby weight does). It also leads to strangers asking you when you are due... while you are holding your 3 year old!!  Studies show that the first 8 weeks after your baby is born is when any spontaneous healing of the abdominal wall occurs. Beyond the 8 weeks, change can be made with exercise. I believe the abdomen needs some help as it heal and extra support around the stomach offers this.

Learn more about the dreaded diastasis recti, HERE.

My Postpartum Go-to Items

For all of the leggings below, I was wearing my pre-baby size. These are the most comfortable leggings ever. I purchased them before I became pregnant and have worn them through both of my pregnancies and postpartum. I love that they are high waisted. They are supportive but still soft and comfortable. They come in cropped and full length. These are a go to of mine. Shop them, HERE.

For something with even more support, THESE offer a high waist + zoned compression. They really provide support focusing on all the right areas. I have very similar ones and they really help make me feel more confident during those first few weeks post baby.

Here's a pair of super high rise leggings to give you even more support in the abdominal region. Shop them, HERE.

Check out other options below that offer high rise support that you will also be able to wear once you get your pre-baby body back. I also added a pair of high rise underwear, a belly wrap, nursing bras, and some beauty products that come in handy during those first few weeks.

Bae The Label Maternity Clothing Review

I received many beautiful pieces from Bae The Label a few weeks ago and I am hooked! Not only is their clothing comfortable and trendy, they are all pieces I will wear after pregnancy. I was also very impressed with the quality of the material.

Bae The Label is an Australian based company. At first, I was worried about the hassle of possibly returning items with future purchases, but I cannot ever see myself making any returns with this brand.

These leggings are adorable! I love the drop crotch and if you are sick of wearing tight leggings and skinny jeans, these are your guys. They are extremely slimming and I'm also slightly obsessed with the print/color.

The sweatshirt is also very high quality. I love that I can wear it during the bump, for breastfeeding, and down the road. It's also the perfect shade of pink.

Everything is linked below.

You can find the sweatshirt, HERE it also comes in gray, HERE and there is a version with a hood HERE

I'm going to keep this short and sweet. I love wearing white in winter, I love boyfriend jeans and I love a jacket with detail.

I've been wearing Citizen boyfriend jeans for a few years and they are my favorite. I love the detailing on this pair. It's the perfect amount of white with just the right touch of ivory.

This is a classic you can keep for years. Sometimes it's hard to find just the right whites in winter for white on white looks. These two pieces work well together

This jacket is on major sale and I'm hooked. It's works well for layering during the winter months and is the perfect jacked that can be worn during that transition time from winter to spring. I also love the pink hood and fringe. Oh, and it's on MAJOR sale.

There's nothing like feeling comfortable and still looking somewhat put together. The topic is workout gear and the question is did she actually workout? No on will know if you worked out or just threw on a cute athletic outfit to get through the day. I call this look my mom uniform because it's pretty much what I live in when I'm not working and this trend in my life started right after I had Charlie. I didn't actually find my go-to brand, Zella, until recently and I'm hooked. I stocked up on a few pieces that I really loved for our recent trip to Sedona, which are all linked below. I also included maternity options!

Now lets talk about my new love, Zella. I'm hooked. Zella is sold at Nordstrom and after doing some digging I came across some interesting information. Libby Vance, a former Lululemon Product Manager, took a Creative Director position at Nordstrom to help create the Zella brand. You will find some similarities between Zella and Lulu, but I would choose Zella over Lulu any day of the week. Zella has the same quality as Lululemon but at a much better price point.

If you have a healthy pregnancy then flying anytime before you hit 37 weeks is completely safe. If you are traveling later in your pregnancy always check your specific airlines policy regarding flying while pregnant. I've been on two very long flights at 6 months pregnant and I highly recommend traveling during the second trimester. With the days of morning sickness and exhaustion hopefully behind you and a new found energy before the third trimester lull, it really is the perfect time for travel.

DO get a seat at the front of the plane because there is better air circulation (preferably an aisle seat making it easier for those bathroom runs)

DO get up and walk around every hour to help with the heightened chance of blood clots during pregnancy.

DO make small movements with your feet and legs while seated to help with blood circulation

DO wear compression stockings which work WONDERS when is comes to combating the nasty side effects of pregnancy. Compression stockings can fight the effects of being inactive, helping your legs stay healthy and lessening the chances of varicose veins, DVT and swelling. They also will improve your comfort levels drastically.

DO drink plenty of water

AVOID carbonated beverages and anything that can cause excess gas to build up in your stomach both before and during the flight. I made this mistake while pregnant with both seltzer and broccoli, I was in complete discomfort the entire flight. To be safe avoid all foods that encourage intestinal expansion, as the nature of the pressurized airplane cabin promotes further bloating which is heightened while pregnant. This isn't limited to but includes, fried and super-saturated dishes, and even healthy foods such as onions, cauliflower, cabbage, beans, lentils, broccoli, apples, and kale.

AVOID tight fitted clothing. I highly recommend sticking to loose fitting or clothing with stretch when flying while pregnant. Even if you are in the second trimester and still squeezing into your non-maternity skinny jeans this might not be the case as you reach a high elevation and your stomach begins to expand. Stick to leggings or joggers and a tunic when in the air. There are enough options these days, you can still look cute while being comfortable.

AVOID uncomfortable shoes. There is an increased chance of swelling to the legs, feet and ankles while traveling when pregnant. This can be especially heightened when traveling to warm climates. For these reasons opt for comfortable footwear that can expand with your feet if they decide to swell.

**I figured I would spread the word to help other mothers thinking about flying while pregnant. During my first pregnancy I flew from NY to LA while 6 months pregnant with my skinny jeans (that already didn't fit) unbuttoned in extreme discomfort from the seltzer water I drank before take off.

Though the Transportation Safety Administration says it’s safe for all travelers, including pregnant passengers, to go through the agency’s Advanced Imaging Technology and metal detector systems as they do not use x-rays but non-ionizing electromagnetic waves to produce an image I personally always opt for a pat down.

Here is the Anthropologie Two Toned Shawl vest that is sold out BUT available in select stores. The store in Greenwich, CT has a few left. STYLE #44627073

We had our first snowfall in Connecticut and waking up felt like Christmas morning. I wanted to share a classic piece I've been wearing all fall and winter that seems to go with everything. From a casual lunch with friends to an extra layer of warmth I throw over my jacket on a snowy day, its very versatile.

I waited ten years before I found a pair of Hunter boots I wanted to buy. I didn't like how flimsy the material was on the classic Hunter rain  boot. For the hefty price tag I thought the boots should be sturdier. Then I found the perfect Hunter boot, Women's Norris Field Neoprene Lined Rain Boots.

Differences between this boot and the classic Hunter boot

  1. The Norris Field boot is made for sustained use on varied terrain
  2. The material is 3mm neoprene-lined rubber offering enhanced resistance against cold weather
  3. The boot Forms an insulating barrier and the neoprene lining safeguards against windy conditions.
  4. made from a new soft rubber compound that maintains strength, while being flexible to allow ease of movement.
  5. other details, the boot has a weatherproof buckle with a webbing strap, a robust heel and high-traction zigzag tread.

I've always been a passionate supporter of small businesses and try to shop local whenever possible, especially when searching for the perfect hostess gift or holiday present. With so much changing in our small towns, and small local shops closing their doors, it's more important than ever to shop small this holiday season. I think there is something special about knowing the story and the person behind the brand and store from which you are buying. The only thing just as important to me as shopping local is shopping at businesses that give back.

There are so many benefits to shopping small and keeping it local but here are just a few:

    1. It improves the local economy
    2. Shopping at one local business helps other local businesses
    3. Having unique shops keeps your community unique
    4. Better customer service
    5. More personalized attention
    6. You will help create jobs in the community
    7. It feels good

    Back 40 Mercantile

The Back 40 Mercantile is a modern interpretation of an old fashioned country store. If you aren’t quite sure what that means, stop by and sample the best ginger cookie you have ever tasted, which will take you back to the days when New England farmers traded maple syrup for pottery. The four founders have common, and yet diverse passions, all of which are displayed in the Back40 Mercantile. The “common” is found in the commitment to excellence. Product by product,  it has to be the best in its class. The “diverse” is found in each corner of the store, be it an oil painting by Eric Sloane, a book by Tracy Kidder or perhaps a hand made necklace from a woman who makes her jewelry in her kitchen, and not to mention the  best mac-n-cheese (organic of course) you’ll ever taste. You can get lost walking around looking at all of the beautiful goods. Stop by this season to find some very thoughtful gifts that anyone on your list would love. The Back 40 Mercantile believes that giving back to both the local community and the broader world is both a responsibility and a privilege. The Back 40 Farm Group donates fresh produce to Neighbor to Neighbor here in Greenwich which serves more than 400 families as a nutritional food bank. They also pledged 10% of all profits to benefit the Partners In Health Food Security Program working in both Haiti and Rwanda.

Roscoe and Tory Brown are the brother-sister duo behind the Two Oh Three. Their story began about three years ago as lifelong enthusiasts of ‘The 203’. They found that they were becoming frustrated that despite all of their love for Connecticut, there wasn’t an easy way to express this pride. As a result of this frustration, they decided to launch their small lifestyle brand in the summer of 2014. They created a tee shirt that would give customers a tangible way to show their pride for their community. One shirt led to two, and before they knew it, they had developed an entire line of ‘203 Gear’. With their gear in hand,  they drove up and down the Connecticut coast traveling to different markets and shops in an effort to spread their mission. From there, THE TWO OH THREE brand was born. If you have anyone on your list this holiday season that share this love for Connecticut, a piece from THE TWO OH THREE gear would be the perfect gift. From infant zip ups and baseball hats to picnic blankets and joggers, they have something for everyone. THE TWO OH THREE is also very involved in the community. From sponsored community days at the beach to glove giveaways at the local homeless shelters, they try and work as a resource for those who want to help give back.

Co-founders Kaki Mcgrath and Lauren Stephens created the idea for Dudly Stephens when endlessly searching for fleece that could be used in a fashionable way. LAYERING FOR COLD WEATHER In the perfect gift

When I find a brand I love, I want to shout it from the mountain tops. Good thing I started a blog. In all seriousness, I stumbled upon the brand FatFace this summer while in Newport, RI., and I fell in love with one of their staple pieces. The FatFace Airlie Sweatshirt is a purchase you will still be wearing in ten years, I'm not kidding. This pullover is produced using industrial strength sewing machines which are needed for its heavy pique fabric. Very few factories in the world can make it making it truly a unique piece. It's made from a very tough material that is never going to stretch or wear. When I purchased the sweatshirt I'm wearing,  FatFace did not have a women's line. I'm wearing a mens SMALL. FatFace just released a women's line with one print. The men’s style has a boxier fit, but either can work! This would also be the perfect gift for any man in your life. I wish you could feel the quality of the fabric. Another bonus is it's 100% cotton and can be worn all year long.

Mrs. Nipple tips for layering pieces:

Try and stay in the same color family if you are mixing prints

Mix many different materials and textures, don't just stick to one

Don't wear anything too bulky, if you do, keep it to one piece, preferably the last piece

    Have fun with it!

    Things I can get behind:

    1. A quality piece that will last for years under $100
    2. Layers. Am I the only one that thinks about Shrek everytime I say layers?
    3. Barbour and spending money on traditional pieces that will never go out of style
    4. Stripes year round
    5. Finding the perfect gift for someone

A few more tips around layering from the one and only Lauren Conrad, which if you were born around 1985 you know her as LC. Find her tips HERE

There are slight changes between styles, some have pockets and some do not. The men's line has a patch detail over the elbow.
